Great Tew Cosy Den Dog Crate Bumper
The Hugo & Otto Cotswolds Collection is inspired by the outstanding beauty of the Cotswolds with it's pretty village houses, their crooked chimneys all built in their mellowed Cotswolds stone. Every little house has such beauty, if it leans a little over well it actually makes perfect sense. Along the way you find pretty cottages with their tiny windows sitting in their silvered oak frames and inside little notes of country Ginghams and stripes with contemporary linens adorn their ancient frames. Great Tew is found in the middle of the Cotswolds hills with the estate of Great Tew dating back to the Anglo-Saxon period of 990 the Norman Church dates back to 1170 with the heart of it's little village sitting around the school, church and village stores.
Inspired by this quintessential English village our beautiful Luxury Great Tew Dog Crate Set with it's pretty bumper is designed to help your dog feel cosy and protected inside their dog crate and keep the chilly winter breezes at bay, the height of the bumpers give them a feeling of den like safety and cosily bolsters the harsh steel wire that their little heads will have to lean on.
We designed the bumpers to accompany our Hugo & Otto Cosy Boxy Dog Crate Cushions and they make a beautiful cosy and super warm set. Each piece is designed and handmade in our contemporary Cotswold Blue coloured fabric, a luxury upholstery polyester mix fabric with our stunning Cotswolds Blue Gingham Check which is an beautiful upholstery cotton mix on the reverse side so that you have 2 beautiful looks with your super cosy boxy dog cushion which we have designed in our usual stylish way with luxury piping and side wall of gorgeous gingham.

Perhaps you may ask: "why purchase a bumper set?"
If this is the first dog crate you have purchased, you may be a little undecided of what to do unless you ask advice from friends and family, your dog breeder will advise you on what they feel may be best and you can ask your Veterinary professional.
I debated over what would be the best option about purchasing a dog dog crate for several weeks through the early part of lockdown and through my resources within the industry I asked several dog breeders, dog behaviourists and vets that we have worked with. We are members of PIF, Pet Industry Federation and asked their advice and I reached out to the suppliers and manufacturers to get the expert view. Personally, I have never had the need to use a dog crate until this summer when we were due to pick up Ottilie our beautiful new edition to the family. Ottilie is a miniature wirehair dachshund who was just coming up to 13 weeks old when the national lockdown was relaxed and we could venture out on the road to pick her up. Ottilie's breeder had recommended we crate train for a while to build up her confidence as because of the extended local lock down she and her siblings had become used to their puppy pen during the day playing in their garden and during their night night times in the kitchen. Going through the guidance and options available for dog crates, the convenience of the 2 door option having an additional side door (narrower side) was more preferable. It gave me the peace of mind knowing the dog crate would be easily accessible from both sides and the marginal uplift in costs far outweighed the concerns of not being able to open the door. We sent for 2 sets to trial them a single and a double door and this reaffirmed our thought process that the 2 door access option is the best decision, especially if you require to move the crate to a smaller room, or indeed you need to visit family and unsure of access areas for your dog crate.
When the dog crates arrived they looked nothing like a super cosy and warm den at all, but it is not designed to offer this, the design is to keep your dog safe inside in the best possible of ways. The thought of Ottilie enclosed in a cold wire and uncomfortable cage was unthinkable and the interior designer in me kicked in. I had already designed the cosy boxy dog cushion for the inside of the base but the thought and look of the intensity of the dog crate wires enclosing her was too much for me and I immediately templated the inside of the dog crates. I worked out the inner space and designed a set of side bumpers to protect her head when sleeping and a top coat cover so that she could feel cosy and warm inside with lovely "drawbridge" blinds to close at night night time. The crates and templates were then taken to our studio and we began the design process with our team, the brief was to design and make a cosy, warm and happy place for our little paws in which to feel safe, relaxed and comfortable within.
And so we have designed and made a beautiful collection of Cosy Dog Crate Sets with fitted covers, bumpers and super deep filled cushions that you can purchase individually or in sets so that your dog feels super calm, cosy and warm inside their cosy dog crate. It is your choice really, in my ind I have done my best to offer protection for my Ottilie and Finnbar when they jump in for a snooze, when they are fast asleep with their legs twitching dreaming no doubt of chasing those pesky wee furballs across the garden, I know that their heads, body and paws are not squished up against the dog crate bars. They can still reach the steel wire and on the door, but they are not bothered at all, they look amazingly happy and content inside and dream the dreams that only wee wiry soissages and their contempories can arrrhhhhooo!
